POPPY DAY
The annual Poppy Day appeal will be made tomorrow. The public response to this appeal increases year by year, as it realises more fully the splendid work accomplished by the Returned Soldiers' Associations throughout New Zealand. The membership of the Returned Soldiers' Association will reach its highest year since its inception. This in itself is proof that the men themselves feel the heed of unity and are experiencing the value of the work done on their behalf by the association. It is nearly a quarter of a century since the historic landing at Anzac, followed by campaigns in Palestine and France, where the New Zealand soldiers won the highest commendation from military commanders. These same men today are in many instances paying the price, and the best we can do for them is the least we should do.
