STRAND PARK
PREPARATION BEGUN
A special meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held yesterday j to consider tenders for the levelling and preparation of Strand Park for seed sowing. The lowest tender, that of Earthworks, Ltd., which was below the council's estimate, was accepted, j and, given average weather, the job will be completed within from three to five weeks, although the time givenl the contractors is twenty weeks. The latest modern machinery will be used. Mr. E. Hutt, superintendent of reserves, has hopes, if the ground is ready early enough, to make an autumn sowing of the grass seed so that the area will be ready for use next sum-1 mer.
