GOLD MEDAL FOR MR.
M CWHANNELL
By winning the Easter, fours, Mr. P. McWhanrtell. of thr Hataitai Bowling Club, has now won five centre certift; cates. At last night's meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre it was decided to award Mr. McWhannell the gold medal presented by the centre to bowlers recording that number of championship tournaments. It was mentioned that Mr. R. Cometti, also of the Hataitai Club, a holder of the medal, has now won a second 3ye certificates, and the question of suitably recognising this performance Is to be considered at the next meeting of the centre
Mr. M. J. Casey, president of the Wellington Centre, and vice-president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, was nominated for the position of president of the New Zealand Association for the 1939-40 season. Mr. J. Kershaw was nominated for the position of treasurer, and Messrs. S. M. Stone and W. Gilbert for positions on the council of the association. A letter was received from the Wobum Bowling Club requesting the centre to amend rule 3 governing the champion of champions matches so as to provide that substitutes must UB selected from those who have played in the same positions in the champion of champions club competitions as those they are to replace. It was decided to refer the request to the incoming committee.
