TABLES TURNED
HIGH CASTE'S ATONEMENT
(From "Vedette.")
SYDNEY, April 14.
After succumbing to Reading in the A.J.C. Sires' Produce Stakes on the opening day off the A.J.C. Meeting, High Caste returned to his high estate by a courageous victory under a 101b penalty in the Champion Stakes on the third day. He began slowly, was checked half-way down the straight, and then was savaged near the post by Reading, but finally he shook off Reading, who had him by the bridle, and went on to win handsomely, answering all critics of his failure on the opening The unlucky horse of the field was Bonny Loch, who was hopelessly left and finished fourth after being up challenging the leaders -a furlong from home. Opinions vary as to how High Caste would have fared if Bonny Loch had begun'correctly, but he would have lound High Caste a strong opponent. ' High Caste since being purchased m Australia has won £6115 in prizemoney. .
