MILLION UNDER ARMS
IMPOSING LEVELS REACHED
NO MORE JUST NOW
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received April 12, 1 p.m.) ROME, April 11. An official communique says that with the calling up of the full 1901----1912 classes and the presence with the colours of the full 1917-1918 and part of the 1919 classes, and the partial recall of specialists and other classes, the armed forces have reached imposing levels, arid provided there are no exceptional circumstances no more men will be' called up.
It is estimated that there are now over a million men under arms.
Political writers understand that the communique is intended to combat rumours that a general mobilisation is imminent.
According to a message from London the Rome correspondent of the British United Press says that of the 900,000 Italians under arms the strongest concentrations are in northern Italy, while 400,000 are on the mainland and in Sicily and Sardinia, 50,000 in Albania, 60,000 in Spain, 30,000 in the Dodecanese Islands, 80,000 in Libya, and 280,000 in Ethiopia.
