ART GALLERY
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —It was with especial pleasure that I heard of the generous, bequest by the late Sir Harold Beauchamp to the Wellington Art Gallery. A picturelover myself, who has visited the world's principal Art Galleries, some 40 years ago while I was in the employ of the Union Bank in Wellington, you were good enough to publish a letter of mine urging the establishment of an Art Gallery. Your editor at once in a leading article enthusiastically backed up my suggestion, and before long the public rallied round and a gallery was built. It is to be hoped that when the £5000 becomes available, great care will be exercised in the choice of pictures, for it is easy to waste such a sum on popular rubbish. —I am, etc.,
