TRAFFIC OFFENCES

Offenders against the traffic regulations were dealt with by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Petone Court yesterday. ;The prosecutors were SeniorSergeant H. C. D. Wade and Traffic Inspector A. J. Archer. For failing to carry warrants of fitness, Miro Russo and Raymond Henry Waddington were each fined 10s and costs. ;•" Failure to give way to traffic approaching from the right cost Richard Alfred Clemens £1 and costs. Harold James Townsend was fined £1 and costs for riding a motorcycle in York Bay in a manner which, might have been dangerous. The offence occurred when the defendant passed a bus and pulled in sharply. Colin Grant was fined £land costs for overtaking within 30 feet of an. intersection, and 10s and costs'for failing to keep to the left. For exceeding the speed limit, William Teesdale was fined.3os and costs and Ella Cole £1 and costs; William Harry Harris was,fined £2 and costs for driving in a mannef which might have been dangerous. Evidence -wras given that the defendant did not stop in response to a torch signal* and caused three police officers who were on the road to jump for safety.

Nicholas Moore, of Masterton, was fined £2 and costs for crossing a railway line when it was not clear.

For driving at a speed which might have been dangerous, Sydney Alphonsus Cesaroni was fined £2 and costs.

Francis John Gay was fined £1 10s and costs for failing to keep as far as practicable to the left of the centre line of the road.
