MELBOURNE, March 29
Racing as Ascot today, the Backwood gelding Trentwood, carrying 10.0, won the Bradford Maiden Hurdles sensationally, coming from an apparently hopeless position 30 lengths behind the field with one round to go and winning by three lengths. He was ridden a vigorous finish by R. Webby.
