BEGONIA HOUSE
LOWEfc HUTT PROPOSAL
"The proposed fernery and begonia house will be the finest in this part of the island, if not in the whole island. It will be an improvement on either of the New Plymouth houses," said Mr. «F. W. Andrews (Mayor of Lower Hutt) when discussing the construction of the house in Lower Hutt. The decisiion for the erection of a fernery and begonia house was made as the result of a recent visit to New Plymouth, when the Mayor and Mr. E. Hutt, Superintendent of Reserves, were greatly impressed by the beauty of those there. On the recommendation of the reserves committee it was decided to proceed at once with the houses on a recently-purchased property off the Western Buttt road. The council expressed its thanks to the Mayor for his offer to donate the woodwork, doors, windows, etc., which was gratefully accepted.
