WORK OF PAST YEAR
Members of the IVellitigtoii East Girls' College Parents' Association last night held their annual meeting in the Batham Assembly Hall at the college, for the erection of which their efforts had been so largely responsible. Included among those present were two members of the board of governors, Mr. W. H. Denton and Mrs. Khox Gilmer; Miss N. G. Isaac, principal of the college; and Miss Batham, former principal. The president, Mr. W. F. Stock, referred to the possibility of the future work of the association being more of a social nature now that the assembly hall had become ah established fact. Miss Isaac also praised the work of the ladies' auxiliary. The annual report, after referring to the erection of the hali, stated that work on the grounds had been continued during the year, and many improvements had been effected. The back tennis court was enlarged by moving the fence to the edge of the new road leading to the hall, and the area gained was tar-sealed, together with smaller portions adjacent to the hail, giving a more . finished appearance to that section of the grounds. The hillside adjacent to the rock garden had been cleared and planted with shrubs, and other improvements had been carried out. The ladies' auxiliary had been doing splendid work, and had organised a number of successful functions including the annual fair, which had resulted in a net profit of approximately £84. j The main concern of the association was that parents, guardians, and friends should realise that they were eligible, and they were welcome to co-operate in promoting the welfare of the college.
