HIGHER TAXES IN AUSTRALIA

CANBERRA, February 8.
The Federal Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, addressing members of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce, said that, because of the heavy expenditure on defence and national insurance, the Government would be compelled to impose new taxation.
