CHINESE OPTIMISM
STRUGGLE AGAINST JAPAN

CHUNGKING, December 13
The Chinese Commander-in-Chief, General Chiang Kai-shek, on the anniversary of the fall of Nanking, said fte was completely optimistic as to the outcome of the war. Japan had occupied only a few points. So far she had fought on the plains, but in future she must fight in the mountains.
