TOURIST TRAFFIC
VALUE TO AUSTRALIA
(Received December 14, noon.)
LONDON, December 13,
Sir Auckland Geddes, presiding over the Orient Company's annual meeting, said that the European situation had badly affected the flow of passengers, and tha. ships had failed to earn depreciation for eight years. He paid a tribute to the National Travel -Association, which was encouraging traffic. Tourist spendings in Australia were estimated at £17,000,000, and were greater than the wine and timber exports. A programme for the transport of assisted migrants should be worked out beforehand if it was to be carried out economically.
