SMALL TABLE BILLIARDS

Three games to complete the third round of the small table tournament were decided at Messrs. Billiards', Ltd., showroom last night. The successful contestants in these matches will play off the semi-finals and final tonight. The games throughout were keenly contested, and the three victors thoroughly merited their respective wins.

The opening . game, which was between J. Berry (rec. 90) and R. Bull (rec. 90), proved an exciting match from the start. Both men were on the same mark and each strove desperately for superiority. Eventually Berry, with the aid of a 26 and a 25 break, ran to points with his opponent at 182, the difference being a mere 18 points.

In the second game D. Armstrong (owe 200) met W. Ross (rec. 30). Armstrong played consistent billiards and compiled several breaks, which included 104, 25, 20, 25, 21, 20, 49, 38, and 41. Ross, although he put up a fairly strong resistance, did not appear to be on his best form and did well to score 306 to Armstrong's 400.

P. G. Taylor (rec. 60) and L. B. Russell (rec. 60) contested the last game last night and Taylor, who plays an extremely cautious game, proved too much for his opponent. Taylor played safety throughout the matcn, and Russell found it difficult to gather the balls into position for a break, and the score was finally called • against him, 200-131. Taylor's best breaks were 41 and 20.

The semi-finals will start tonight at 7 o'clock, when W. Keech will meet J. Berry and P. G. Taylor will play A. Armstrong. The winners of these two games will meet in the final at 8 o'clock.
