END-OF-YEAR PARTY

ST. STEPHEN'S ASSOCIATION The final meeting for the year of ; St. Stephen's Women's Association, ' Lower Hutt, took place yesterday \ afternoon when the drama circle of the Stokes Valley Women's Institute . provided a programme of entertain- ; ment for over forty members. Mrs. A. E. Milne (vice-president) was in [ the chair. i The floral decorations were particu- ; larly effective, great bowls of Himalayan rhododendrons, Solomon's Seal, and wiegeglia being placed with charming effect through the hall and around the stage. A tableau, a play reading, and a one-act play were pre- ' sented by the visitors, the production being in the hands of Mrs. O. Hurney, [ president of the institute. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the players. An amusing singing competition among different groups of members revealed unsuspected talent and proved '. exceedingly popular. The hostesses, who were also responsible for the serving of a delicious ' afternoon tea, were Mesdames R. Cole (convener), W. G. Henry, H. Isheri wood, Hart, T. Linton, and G. G. LittleJohn.
