GARDEN CIRCLE MEETS

A meeting of the gardening circle of the Brooklyn Townswomen's Guild was held recently. Miss E. A. Beagley gave an interesting talk on "Flower Decoration in the Home." The speaker stressed the necessity of colour harmony and explained how "difficult" or "hard" colours could be used successfully to make a pleasing combination when arranging a basket of flowers. The need for a firm foundation ttf work on was necessary, and the speaker arranged a tall vase of spring bulbs and foliage, a basket of stocks, a low bowl of flowers, bedside and saucer posies to illustrate her point. Members brought flowers and foliage, vases, bowls, baskets, etc., and displayed keen interest and appreciation in the help given. Questions were answered as to the best method of keeping flowers in hot weather and the wiring of same.
