The Independent candidate for Raglan, Mr. A. J. Gallichan, introduced a novel theme at Taupiri, when he propounded a new method for. the conduct, of election campaigns,, says the "Waikato Times." Mr. Gallichan observed that the frequent broadcasting of political speeches sometimes had a disastrous effect on the attendances at meetings |of all candidates. The speaker pro--1 posed that, in future, campaigns should be conducted by broadcasting only. He considered that each candidate should be allowed the same number of speeches, the dates to be fixed by ballot, and that a large fee should be charged each candidate for the use of the radio station. It was proposed by the speaker that the final address should be reserved for questions to be sent to the station director. Mr. Gallichan added that it should be enacted that no candidate give political addresses as at present but that he should have the right to tour his electorate to become personally acquainted with the electors.
