EWART HOSPITAL

CINEMATOGRAPH MACHINE

Patients of the Ewart Hospital onj Saturday night were given an enter-! tainment with a new cinematograph plant that has been installed. Some two years ago a single machine was installed by the board, and from it the patients derived much pleasure, but Messrs. Taubman's Ltd., paint manufacturers, of Miramar, seeing that this service could be much improved, kindly donated to the returned soldiers undergoing treatment in the hospital a second machine, and spared no ex-; pense in equipping the hospital with! every modern appliance and rehousing the entire plant. During the evening, Dr. McLean., medical officer in charge, thanked Messrs. Taubmans for their generous j and thoughtful gift, and also their representative. Mr. R. Moult, who had! worked unremittingly himself and also, supervised the work. Dr. McLean also i made eulogistic reference to the, operator. Mr. M. R. -Spiers, for his splendid work since the first instalment. For the Hospital Board, the Rev. F. J. Usher spoke. Mr. Moult, in the absence of Mr. Sutton through indisposition, spoke on behalf of Messrs. Taubmans. He indicated in a happy speech that what he had done had given him great pleasure. A very fine Fox programme was screened, and this was appreciated by both patients and visitors. Amongst those present were Dr. McLean, Sister Johnston, the matron and assistant matron of the Wellington Hospital, the Rev. F. J. and Mrs. Usher, and Mr. Purvis, of the Hospital Board, and Mr. and Mrs. Moult, the latter having rendered valuable assistance in preparing a new screen.
