HARBOUR COLLISION

SCOW AND VEHICULAR FERRY

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, October 2. Struck on her starboard side by the vehicular ferry Korea early this morning, the small ketch-rigged scow Lena was forced to return to port with fairly severe damage.

The Lena, outward bound to the Great Barrier Island, was proceeding down the harbour when the Korea, from Auckland to Devonport, came into collision with her. Part of the scow's bulwarks were smashed and the wheelhouse was moved more than a foot. Captain N. Warren, owner and master of the Lena, received slight injuries to the head through flying timber. The Korea, latest addition to the Devonport Steam Ferry Company's fleet, was not damaged.

When the Lena was struck, she canted over, the Korea smashing down part of the scow's starboard bulwark and her projecting Tsows striking the wheelhouse. The only other person in the Lena, CapMn Warren's son, was also in the wheelhouse and was severely shaken.
