HAWKE'S BAY BRIDE

WHITE—WILDER

(Special to the "Eveninfl Post.")

HASTINGS, This Day.

Much interest was taken in the wedding on Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's Church, Waipukurau, of Prudence Madeline Hanmer, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pery Wilder, "Ngapari," Waipukurau, and Thomas Hugh Nairn, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh White, "Sherwood," Takapau^ The bride is a great-great-grand-daughter of the late Bishop Harper, first Primate of New Zealand.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory slipper satin fashioned with a full trained skirt and corsage with square neckline finished with tiny satincovered buttons and loops from neck to waist in front. The lower part of the bodice was finely tucked to give a softening effect and at the waist was a swathed belt. True lovers' knots finished the skirt from the waist to the hem in front. The bride wore the exquisite old family veil of Brussels lace with a halo of lily of the valley and her bouquet was of a variety of cream flowers. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, the bridegroom's gift.

The four bridesmaids were the bride's sister, Miss Antoinette Wilder, the bridegroom's sister, Miss Susan White, Miss Una Herrick, and Miss Enid Reeves (Tolaga Bay).

Their gowns were of ivory stiffened lace cut with very fully-flared skirts, corsages with square necklines, and puffed sleeves. Sashes of leafbud green velvet were tied in soft bows at the back and their wide-brimmed straw hats were swathed with the same green velvet. They carried sheafs of scarlet tulips.

Three little cousins of the bride were younger 'maids. They were Frances Hope, Darea Sherratt, and Elizabeth Hanmer, and their gowns of ivory stiffened net mounted on taffeta were replicas of those worn by the older 'maids. Their sashes and shoes were green and they wore haloes of green leaves. A small page, David White, wore an ivory satin shirt with his long ivory velvet trousers.

About 150 guests were afterwards entertained at a reception at "Ngapari," and were received by Mr. and Mrs. Wilder, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. White. Mrs. Wilder wore a frock of navy blue and shell pink patterned chiffon with a wide-brimmed navy hat and silver fox fur. Mrs. White chose a smart ensemble in brown tonings with a brown hat. Mrs. G. Hanmer, the bride's grandmother, of Christchurch, was among the guests.

For travelling the bride wore a light wool frock of navy blue with high cowled neckline and crossed tie at the waist. Her small turban hat of the same material was trimmed with mauve and pink flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh White will live at Takapau, Hawke's Bay.
