MR. MCDOUGALL'S ADDRESS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
GORE. This Day.
Mr. David McDougall, Independent candidate, addressed an audience of 600 in Gore last evening. He was given an enthusiastic reception. The speech was broadcast.
The speaker criticised the work of the Forbes and Coalition Governments and praised the Labour Government. Christ, he said, was the greatest Socialist the world had known. He challenged the audience to say that the Master was a fraud and preached a false doctrine. -
At the conclusion of his address Mr. McDougall- sang a song, which he hoped would cheer up the drooping spirits of the Tories.
In reply to a question, he stated that he was an Independent candidate favouring the Labour Party's policy.
The speaker was accorded an enthusiastic vote of thanks.
Prior to the commencement of his address the audience sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."
