A WINNER IN ADELAIDE

The Siegfried colt Siegift has been one of the earliest juvenile winners in Adelaide this season. At his second outing he created a favourable impression by scoring at Cheltenham a fortnight ago. Racing very greenly, he finished in a way that suggested he should stay on well as he matures. Siegift is from the Australian Sun mare Sungift, a full-sister to Sunee, and Mr. C. Wheeler gave 175 guineas for him at the Trentham National Sales in January, acting for Mr. Max Young. It was a fluke that Mr. Wheeler secured him, for the colt was knocked down to a New Zealand man while the South Australian had his attention temporarily turned elsewhere. Mr. Wheeler offered an advance of 50 guineas on the 125 guineas at which the colt had been knocked down.
