A WELL-BRED WINNER

Auctor, winner of the/Wainui Handicap at Geraldine recently, is a wellgrown chestnut gelding by Balboa from Spean Bridge, a mare imported from England in 1922 by Mr. A. Chisholm, of Otautau, who bred Auctor. Spean Bridge is by Righ Mor from Annie Laurie, by Marcovil from Gracious Annie, by Bachelor's Double, and before being put to the stud she won races for Mr. Chisholm.

Another from the same stud at Otautau racing at Geraldine was the four-year-old Boswell, by Balboa from Celerity 11, a mare also imported from England in 1922 by Mr. Chisholm, who brought out Glentruin at the same time. Celerity II is by Gainsborough from Force of Gravity, by Forfarshire, and also won races before being retired. Boswell has not done a great deal of racing, bat is one likely to be in marked evidence this season.
