ITINERARY CRITICISED

The itinerary drawn up for Sir Julien Cahn's cricket team, due in New Zealand in February, has given rise to criticism in some quarters, Southland (supported by Otago) and Wanganui. being disappointed that they are1 not provided for in the programme of matches.

A protest at the exclusion, of Wanganui from the itinerary was voiced at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Cricket Association. The matter was raised by Mr. F. W. Gilligan, who moved the following resolution: "That the annual meeting of \ the Wanganui Cricket Association views with regret the decision of the New Zealand Cricket Council not to give Wanganui an opportunity of playing against Sir Julien Cahn's eleven, particularly as application was made to the council for the inclusion of Wanganui in the itinerary." Mr. Gilligan's resoltition was carried, unanimously, reports the "Wanganui Chronicle."

The secretary, Mr. L. Koorey, reported that he had written to the New Zealand Cricket; Council for particulars of the tour, the amount which would be required for a guarantee, and the possibility of a match being allotted to Wanganui. A reply had been received that the council had not particulars of an itinerary. The next he heard of the matter was when the itinerary was published in the Press. Mr. R. E. Cuthbertson said that if the association could secure a match it would prove a great draw and would assist the association's finances. Mr. Gilligan, in reply to a question, said that he had heard that there was a likelihood of , the itinerary being amended. The secretary said that a letter had been, received from the Wanganui City Council expressing regret at the exclusion of Wanganui. The council offered its assistance in securing a . match 'and offered the use of Cook Gardens free of charge.
