RIOTING AT MILAN
CONDITIONS IN ITALY LONDON, September 28. Though the Italian preparations for an emergency are so far restricted to the calling up of several categories of reservists and specialists, a warning has been issued in Rome to transport employees to hold themselves in readines for mobilisation. The newspapers continue to support Germany. The Paris correspondent of the "News Chronicle" says it is learnt that serious rioting occurred in Milan this afternoon and was continuing this evening. A large crowd demonstrated against Herr Hitler's and Signor Mussolini's warlike policy. Mounted police made a charge and many were injured. The "News Chronicle" tells a story, which it declares to be fully supported, of Italian deserters crossing the French frontier daily. Three senior officers are reported to be among the latest-
