COACHING TO START
Arrangements have been made by the Director of Parks and Reserves (Mr. J. G: MacKenzie) to place the Pirie Street Reserve at the disposal of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre for training purposes until Hataitai Park is available. The president of the Wellington Centre, Mr. A. C. Kitto, announced this afternoon that as a result it would be possible to make a start with training and coaching for the 1938-39 season, on the Pirie Street ground on Saturday afternoon. The centre's coach,.Mr. A. L. Fitch, would be in attendance between 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 pm After Saturday the Pirie Street Reserve will be available to athletes for training; and coaching on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays,
from 5.30 pjn. to 7.30 p.m. Mr. Kitto and Mr. B. Sutherland, a vice-president of the centre, inspected both the Pirie Street Reserve and Hataitai Park in company with Councillor W. Duncan, chairman of the City Council reserves committee, and Mr. MacKenzie. Mr. Kitto said that Mr. MacKenzie had the "top-dressing of Hataitai Park well under way and that he was sparing nO effort to have the ground in the best possible order. It was expected that it would be available in about three or fours weeks' time.
