bPrior to the bbPrime Minister's speech 'there was a steady flow of young men at the recruiting offices in Whitehall and the mobilisation of the Fleet ana .the calling up of naval reservists was 'accentuated. All men allocated to submarine service had been ordered to proceed direct to the submarine establishment at Gosport. The Air Ministry had announced that a humber of planes would make daily flights between London and the east and south coasts for exercising the men of the observer corps, anti-aircraft patrols, and searchlight operators. / ■.
Hundreds of Germans resident in London are applying for naturalisation. : .
The staff of New Zealand House have organised air-raid precautions. A gas-proof shelter is being built in.the. basement.
