AUSTRALIAN STRIKE
SETTLEMENT HOPES
MINERS SEEK CONFERENCE

SYDNEY, This Day.
It was an unexpected development in the coal strike-last night which afforded bright hopes of a settlement. Representatives of the Miners? Federation and other unions requested .the Minister of Lab Pur, Mr. A. MMir, to convene a conference Of the parties in the dispute in the hope'of effecting a settlement. The, Minister promptly agreed and the conference will be held in his office next Tuesday.
Owing to the strike special trains to country' race and greyhound meetings are being cancelled from next Monday.
