Blair—Bignell

St. Paul's Presbyterian Church was adorned with all shades of golden spring flowers last week for the wedding of Betty, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs. A. V. Bignell, of "Ruatangata," Wangaehu, and Douglas Gordon, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J McL. Blair, of "Rangitane." The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a slim-fitting gown of ivory satin with a long train. A Brussels lace veil was held by a coronet of orange blossom and pearls, and she held a bouquet of cream roses and freesias. Miss June Bignell and Miss Marjorie Miller of New Plymouth, were bridesmaids,' wearing honey gold chiffon over tulle and coronets of yellow daisies. Messrs. A. Burson, of Wanganui, and Geoffrey Bignell were best man and groomsman respectively, and-the Rev. A. H. Norrie performed the ceremony. Mrs. J. Emmett presided at the organ. A reception was held at "Ruatangata," when guests from a wide district were present. Military Ball. Taihape Town Hall was the scene of the last big social event for the year, on the occasion of the military ball last week. Members of the Returned Soldiers' Association cooperated with the ball committee to make the ban a great success. Variegated streamers arranged in squares formed a "roof," and the flags and red white, and blue streamers were used on the walls. This was the fifth military ball to be held at Taihape. Personals. | Miss J.. H. Ross has been appointed secondary assistant at Taihape District High School. Mrs. Little and the Misses Little, of Waverley, have left for Wellington, where they will reside. Mrs. Lawless and Mrs. P. Carter, | Lower Hutt, spent a few days as the guests of Mrs. A. Tyerman. Miss C. M. Catherwood has been appointed domestic science instructress for the Taihape—Marton centres. Mesdames Neumann and Walker returned at the weekend from a visit to Mrs. R. Hammond in Wellington. Mrs. R. Giblin has returned from a holiday spent in New Plymouth. j Mesdames W. H. Dawson and P. T. Pri chard, of Dannevirke, are the guests of Mrs. A. E. Cowper at "Lyncairne." Miss Alison Prichard, Dannevirke, is the guest of Mrs. E. Cutfield. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, Day's Bay, Wellington, are spending a holiday at Wanganui. Mrs. A, A. Turner, Greymouth, is visiting Wanganui and Hawera.
