TOOHEY'S PROFITS
HIGHEST SINCE 1929
Gross receipts and net profit of Tooheys, Ltd., brewers, Sydney, for the year ended July 31 were the highest since 1929 at £780,887 and £151,973 respectively. For 1937 the net profit was £120,137, and receipts £667,744. The capital was increased by £140,000 during the year just ended. Dividend has been maintained at 9 per cent., and requires £131,905, so that after transferring £10,000 to reserve, and £5000 to officers' provident fund, £27,002 is carried forward against £21,934 brought into the accounts. Tooheys Standard Securities, Ltd., the funds of which are advanced to Tooheys, Ltd., shows a net profit of £41,250 for the year ended July 31, which is the same as the -profit disclosed for the previous year. Dividends of 5£ per cent, on the preference and "A" preference shares absorb the whole of the profit. Capital is £762,500, of which £12,500 is ordinary, held by Tooheys, Ltd., £300,000 preference, and £'450,000 "A" preference. The amount advanced to Tooheys Ltd. as at July 31 was £791,230, against £790,563 a year before.
