, (Received September 24, 10.30 a.m.) j LONDON, September 23. I A message from Nancy says that 1 troop movements on a large scale • are reported in Alsace. Trenches are ibeing built in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains behind Strasllwurg for auxiliary troops to support the Maginot Line. ! It is reported from Nancy that JVance has ordered the Rhine garuison to stand by. The correspondent of the British TTnited Press ,at Nancy s#ys that sol<&ers in war unirorras and with full including gas masks, have Kj*ccupied advanced posts on the vflthine. Horses and lorries have been roaquisitioned to transport, troops and laiaterial. This order was issued as 'tine French Government fears Herr Hitler will demand the resignation of General Sirovy's Cabinet in Prague. It is stated officially that the French pleasures have been taken owing to tjjie. increased German strength on the KJhine , Reports that extra troops are occupyirjg the Maginot Line are denied in P4iris. It is stated that the Line has been fully garrisoned for weeks. Thei French Labour Federation appeals to j th»e workers to demonstrate, which would conflict with the Government dejcree prohibiting assemblies in view pf' the international situation. a conference between the Egdical Socialists and the Prime Minister M. Daladier, the Premier authorised the statement, that France is imaking an ultimate effort for peace, but, that if Germany' makes a coup de force in Czechoslovakia, France wi^l maintain her obligations to the Czechs. It is not deiaied that General Faucher has been ranged as a general in thearm^y since 1930. !
