The President of Czechoslovakia, Dr. Benes, has ordered mobilisation of the Czech Army to be completed within six hours. The mobilisation order requisitions all horses, motor-cars, and aeroplanes. All telephone communication with Prague has been cut off. ■ • Instructions were broadcast to darken all windows. The Berlin correspondent of the British United Press says that membjrs of the Czech Legation declare that Xc mobilisation order was broadcast all over the country. Once ti^flwt line is lost the army will retire to the border between Bohemia and Moravia, which is shorter, protected by mountains, and h§avily fortified. The Czechs are self-supporting in regard to war material. Notices giving indication of the whereabouts of bombproof and gasproof cellars are appearing^ most of the crowded centres. Workmen are digging trenches where suitable slielter is unavailable. No more gas-masks are left, but the majority of the population are equipped. The Prague correspondent of "The Times" says it is officially reported that Britain and France have guaranteed the Czech frontiers. This apparently means that Britain will he drawn in if Germany attacks Czechoslovakia. A full meeting of the French Cabinet has been called for tomorrow. The Rome correspondent of the British United Press reports that Italians believe-.events have developed so*rapidly that war is inevitable.
