LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
"DIFFICULT PROFESSION"
i In the absence of Mrs. E. 5. Mirams, president of the Khandallah branch of the League of Mothers, Mrs. P. P. j Lynch took the chair at the meeting held on Wednesday afternoon. The selection of "The thought for the month" was made by Mrs. Lamburd, who chose Emerson's "Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself." Mrs. H. G. Philpott sang two songs and Mrs. W. P. Rollings entertained with two elocutionary items. Mrs. W. S. Rollings, spoke of woman's part in the moulding of mankind. Quoting the Countess of Balfour's statement that "marriage is the most difficult profession," Mrs. Rollings ; said it was on this thought that her talk was based. She mentioned many prominent figures of modern history, and explained how their mothers had influenced them, and how in certain instances the course of history had been changed, for good or ill, by a mother's influence. An excellent series of quotations from famous authors illustrated the points advanced. A vote of thanks to Mrs. Rollings was moved by Mrs. Arthur Seed and carried by acclamation. Afternoon tea was served.
