FRENCH DEFENCE NEEDS
(Received August 27, 9.20 a.m.) PARIS, August 26. The Prime Minister, M. Daladier, addressing the Radical-Socialists, said ;he had nothing to add or to withdraw from his broadcast on August 21. England, Sweden, and Belgium worked a 48-hour week and most industries were essential in. the interests of defence. Firms requiring extra hours could have them without prohibitive overtime. The meeting passed a vote of confidence in the Premier. ! In a broadcast speech on August 21 M. Daladier promised measures to increase the national revenue and balance the Budget without deflation and to revise the 44-hour week to ensure its being more flexible in the war industries,
