OPENING OF SEASON
Saturday, October-1, was the date fixed for the opening of 'the : Star Boating Club's season at the annual meeting of the club last night, at which Mr. A. D. Bayfeild presided. " The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. A. D. Bayfeild; % vice-president, Mr. R. L. Evatt; captain, Mr! J. I. Thodey; vice-captain, Mr. A. R. Lawson; secretary, Mr. W. M. Willis; treasurer, Mr. G. C. Broad; committee, Messrs. T. M. Hinkley, K. E. May, K. J. Frazer, A. R. Burge, J, G. Watson, and C. F. Pert; match (committee, Messrs. J. I. Thodey, G. IC. Cooke, K. E. May; club race committee, Messrs. Q. T. Kingham, A. C. J. Coates, J. F. Ashby; trustees, Messrs. A. D. Bayfeild, W. R. C. Oswiri, and IW. S. Wheeler. : i A notice of motion by Mr. G; C. Cooke that the subscription be increased was defeated. A motion-that ; the rigging of the club b9ats be changed from poppetg to swivels was defeated. Mr. F. B. Any on was elected a life active member, and Messrs. H. R. Herd and W. P. Sharland life honorary members. . ■ .
