PALMERSTON NORTH SALE

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Palmerston North, report on their monthly auction sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, and tallow, held on Thursday, as follows: —A large catalogue was offered to a full bench of buyers, when competition was keen for suitable lots. In the main values were easier than at our sale of last month. Wool: Values generally were £d lower. For sheepskins there was an easing in values of id per lb. Cow hides were on a par to id easier, while ox hides were down id. Calfskins were easier l-8d to id per lb. The tallow market was easier by 20s per ton. The following is the range of values: —Wool: Crossbred, 7d to 7fd; hoggets, 7id to 7fd; dead, 6d to 7d; crutchings, 5M to 6£d; locks and pieces, 3£d to 4Jd. Sheepskins: Fine first, 8d to B£d; fine hoggets, 7£d to 8d; hoggets, 7d to 7Jd; three-quarter-wools, 8d to B£d; quarter-half-wools, 7d to BJd; crossbred damaged, s£d to 7d; lambs, 6d to 7d; pelts, 3d to 3Jd; dead, 6}d- to 6£d. Hides: Ox, heavy 5 5-8 dto 6 5-Bd, light 4£d to 5 l-8d; cow, heavy 4£d to 4 7-Bd, medium 4£d to 4 5-Bd, light 4£d to 4£-d; yearlings, 7d to B£d; calf, light first 9 l-8d to 9 3-Bd, light second B£d to 9d, cut 7id to 7 5-Bd. Tallow: In drums, first, 12s 6d to 14s 6d a cwt; in tins, first, 8s to 10s.
