BISHOP WILLIAMS'S LIBRARY

The increasing interest of collectors in books relating to the early history of New Zealand was reflected by the large attendance at the sale by auction yesterday afternoon of the first portion of the library of the late Bishop Williams, Hawke's Bay. The catalogue contained many rare items. Among those present were representatives of public libraries, the Turnbull Library, Wellington, and the Hocken Library, Dunedin, as well as buyers from Australia. R. Chapman, £1 2s; Church Missionary Society Pamphlets realised from 5s to 17s each; "Plan of the New Zealand Association," by Coates Dandeson, £1 14s; "Present State of New Zealand Question," £1 12s; "Fiat Justitia," by W.
