FRENCH POPULAR FRONT
POLICY DECISION
DEFENCE ISSUE
WAY FOR COMPROMISE
(Received August 26, 11.30 a.m.)
PARIS, August 25,
The national committee of the Popular Front passed a resolution expressing unanimous determination to maintain the Popular Front against the reaction of Fascism, and to uphold the inviolability of social legislation, and to satisfy all the needs of national defence.
The interpretation placed on the resolution is that it not only leaves the door open to compromise, but that it implies that a solution can be found reconciling Socialist susceptibilities and the defence programme.
