SIZE OF LOCKERS
WESTFIELD FREEZING WORKS
The following statement was made ' today on behalf of the North and South Island Freezing Companies' Association:— "In a statement by the Hon. Mr. Armstrong on August 22, published in the' leading newspapers, and referring to the dispute regarding the lockers to be provided for the workers at the Westfield freezing works, it was stated that the Labour Depart- ■ ment had recommended lockers sft ' 6in high by 18in wide, but that the ; 'companies went on building the smaller lockers, notwithstanding. v "This statement is capable of misunderstanding and the committee representing all New Zealand freezing companies wish to state most definitely that to the best of their knowledge and belief no such recommenda- : tion was made to any freezing com- - pary. "'The matter is, of course, sub judice, and the representatives of the companies are not at the moment in a position to make any further public statement on the matter."
