BACK TO THE BULLOCK
Reference to the fact that the timber workers' award was one of the oldest in industrial arbitration was made by Mr. A. Seed in the Second Court of Arbitration today, when he pointed out that provision was still made in the award for bullock drivers. This showed that the award went back to the days when bullock teams were extensively used in the haulage of timber. "Are there still any bullocks used in that way?" asked Mr. Justice Hunter. ''There may still be one or two teams," replied Mr. Seed, "but they are so few and far between that they are almost museum exhibits."
