STOCK DAMAGED
DEPARTMENT STORE FIRE

NEW PLYMOUTH, July 7.
Fire destroyed hundreds of pounds worth of stock at the New Plymouth branch of McKenzie's Department Stores, Ltd.,,, tonight. The fife damage was confined to storerooms upstairs, but practically the whole stock of the shop was saturated with water.
Dense smoke was seen in King Street just^after^? p.m.r and two engines tunrecfSput.i -a Leads were run to the front of the building in Devon Street ami the rear in King Street, but it was some time before the outbreak was quelled. Details of the insurance were not available tonight.
