STRENUOUS TOUR
CORRESPONDENCE SCHOOL HEAD The very strenuous time which he expects to have when abroad for the correspondence education conference at Victoria, British Columbia, was outlined by Dr. A. G. Butchers yesterday afternoon. Dr. Butchers, who is headmaster of the Education Department's Correspondence School, said that he intended to do much night and air travelling so as to have time to i visit more places. The function at which Dr. Butchers was speaking was a farewell which was attended by about 100 members of the Correspondence School staff and others. As Dr. J. Isficol, the senior secondary assistant, was indisposed, Mr. E. N. Le Petit, presided. He spoke of the excellent work accomplished by Dr. Butchers, and said that, he was sure that Dr. Butchers would gain much valuable information from, the conference.
The Chief Inspector of Primary Schools, Dr. J. W. Mcllralth, also spoke, extending congratuations to Dr. Butchers. There was ho one he knew of, he said, more fitted as an investigator of educational affairs and Dr. Butchers could be counted upon to return with the best possible information about correspondence schools.
Dr. Butchers will leave by the Aorangi, sailing from Auckland next Tuesday.
