PRIVATE HOTELS
TARIFF CHARGES IN OTAGO
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, This Day
At a meeting of Otago private hotelkeepers it was agreed that in future bed and breakfast bookings would; be for one night only, after which full daily tariff must be paid.
The president stated that while it •might be possible in Wellington and Auckland for certain hotels to run successfully by letting a percentage of rooms on bed-and-breakfast tariff, it was not possible in Otago, where there) was not a large daily continuity ofc business. Furthermore, Otago hotels j had not increased tariffs pro rata with North. Island Hotels. In any case it was unreasonable for the travelling public to expect to occupy rooms for'a number of days and have full-time use of those rooms, bathrooms, lounge, fires, writing-rooms, and other facilities as offered to full-time guests, and then want to pay- only a bed-and-breakfast tariff.
