ENJOYABLE CONCERT

The- Male Voice Choir opened its sixth season on Monday evening with a concert in aid of the Girl's College swimming bath fund. Those who assisted were Mrs. P. Vining, Miss Mary Macfarlane, Miss J. Mitchell, Mrs. Davies, Captain Foster, and Mr. H. File. Some of those in the audience were Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Mitchell, Bishop and Mrs. Hillyard, Mr. and Mrs. Lemmer, Mrs. Macfarlane, Dean and Mrs. P. B. Haggitt,the Misses Blackett, Miss J. Stewart, Mrs. and Miss Jamieson, Mr. and Mrs. Farmer, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Fell, Dr. and Mrs* Washbourn, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. F. Childs, Mrs. J. R. Wallace, Miss D. Betts, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Leggatt. Women's Club On Monday evening "Parnell" was read by the Reading Circle, and the historical appeal probably contributed most to the enjoyment of the members. Thoe taking part were Miss Rhodes, Mrs. Caff ell, Miss D. Hayes, Mrs. E. R. Neale, Mrs. Parker, Miss Davies, Miss M, Hayes, Mrs. '" Boyes, Mrs. Du Flou, Miss Gray, Mrs. Methven, Mrs. Forsyth, Mrs. Plumridge., Mrs. Kennedy. Those present included Mrs. C. Y. Fell,' Mrs. England, Mrs. Brundell, Miss Brown, .Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Crombie, Mrs. Reck Miss Satchell Mrs. Williams, Miss Nevin, Mrs. Craighead, and Miss Tomlinson. A Cheery Party. Mr. and Mrs. 'A. C. Leggatt's house was a delightful refuge late on Saturday afternoon, and with the rain pouring down outside, the lovely fires and cosy rooms were much appreciated. Some of the guests were Mr. and Mrs. G. Samuel, Mr. and Mrs. R. Duncan, Miss J. Tomlinson, Colonel and Mrs. Lorimer, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Leggatt, Miss B. Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael, Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Searle, Mr. and Mrs. W. Squires. Obituary. The many friends of Miss R. Gibbs were: shocked to learn of her sudden death-in Blenheim last week. Miss Gibbs was a member of one of the best-known Nelson families, and. her kindness and practical charity will be' very widely missed. League of Women Helpers. The Women's Club entertained at tea Miss H. Benbow, general secretary of the Women's Section of Toe H.; who is vistihg all branches in New Zealand. The new clubroom was decorated with late hydrangeas and bowls of Iceland poppies. Miss Behbow spoke with, great enthusiasm about the work, and was most encouraging in her praise of what is being done by the branches throughout the world. Some of those present were Mrs. J. B. Lemmer, Mrs. E. R. Neal, Mrs. P. R. Parker, C. Graham, Miss J. Stewart, Mrs. T. E. Hudson, Mrs. Du Flou, Mrs. Hurrell, Mrs. Lusty, Mrs. Forsyth, Miss I. Andrew, Mrs. D. McKee Wright, and Miss J. Tomlinson.
