SOAP INDUSTRY
WAINGAWA FACTORY TO CLOSE
(Special to the "Evening Post") MASTERTON, This Day. The soap factory of Messrs. T. Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., at Waingawa, is to be closed down. Confirmation of this action was obtained today from Mr. P. J. Borthwick, who also said that the soap factory had been sold to John Newton and Son, Ltd., Wellington, and the factory would cease to operate at Waingawa. The plant and equipment at the works will be dismantled and what the purchasers do not require will be sold to other soap manufacturers. In recent years only a comparatively few men have been engaged in the Bprthwick factory at Waingawa.
