RAILWAY DISCIPLINE
ALLEGATIONS RESENTED
The Wellington branch of, the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, at a wc'll-attended meeting recently, passed the following resolution in regard to the recent allegations made in the House of Representatives that there was a lack of discipline in the Railway service:— "That this branch of the A.S.R.S. resents the remarks of Messrs. Endean and Smith that there is an entire lack of discipline in the railway service and that this has been a contributing factor to the recent accidents. We consider this an insult to all railwaymen, as we are of the opinion that the discipline is as rigid now as under any previous Government and that the efficiency of the staff is as high or higher as at any time in the history of the service." The branch considers that the insinuations broadcast by members of the National Party are most unworthy and cannot be substantiated.
