OBITUARY
MISS R. L. GIBBS,
The death has occurred of Miss R. L. Gibbs, of Nelson, who had been absent visiting friends in the south and was ■on her way home when she was taken ill and died after a very short illness. Miss, Gibbs, who was born in London, was one of the family known for many years after their arrival in New Zealand as the "Queen Bee Gibbses," owing to ~ the fact that they were in that ship when she was wrecked at Farewell Spit in 1877. Miss Gibbs first landed in New Zealand in the neighbourhood of Totaranui, and all her life in New Zealand was lived in Nelson. She was an enthusiastic member of the local committee of the SiP.C.A., and a supporter and collector for Dr. Barnardo's Homes and Fresh Air Fund for many years. She is survived, by five brothers, including Mr. R. W. Gibbs, of Karori, and Dr. S. A. Gibbs, of Wellington, and three sisters.
Miss J. Crawford (Pahiatua) intends to stay in England for a year or two. She has been holidaying in the South of England and-in London, and now is-about to leave lor a motor tour of Scotland..
