AN ENJOYABLE DANCE

Lady Pomare was guest of honour at the dance given by the combined head and district offices of the Native Department, at the Assembly Hall, Brougham Street, last night. Her frock was of black velvet, over which she wore a black fur coat; her fichu scarf, which was loosely tied at the throat, was of drawn-thread patterned crepe de chine. With her in the official party were Mr. O. N. Campbell, Under-Secretary of the Native Department, and senior members of the staff. They were received by Miss Higgie on behalf of the committee, and were conducted to easy chairs, where they watched the proceedings in comfort.

The decorations were particularly effective. A frieze of lycopodium encircled the entire room with, here and there, a graceful trailing spray breaking the sequence.
