£ * ■ Mr. Vernon J. Leek presided ovei the weekly meeting of the Wellingtoi Esperanto Club which was held jn th< club's rooms, 12 Victoria Street, 01 l Monday evening. Some extremely in - teresting correspondence was receivet r by members from European countries 1 including Austria, Italy, Germany i France, Yugoslavia, Finland, an< - Lithuania. After the customary tui r tion period Mr. Howard Franks, sec . retary of the Masterton Esperanto , Club, was introduced, and in replying spoke of the amazing growth of Es peranto in Wellington during the las '• few years. It was a real pleasure, sail " Mr. Franks, to see so many green star i, being worn in the city. Mr. G. Blonj f gave an interesting talk in flawles - Esperanto on the value of the intei national auxiliary language as a mean; ' of creating international good will. Mi F. Bailey had the members puzzlei " when he demonstrated what could b done with figures with the help o s three blackboards. An amusing plaj t let presented by Messrs. J. Allan am 4 F. Bailey gave members an insigh t into a conversation between a visito e and a London street cleaner. Mr. E D. Saunders and Major McAlliste " gave an illusory juggling turn whic e was very amusing. The evening wa i concluded by a community sing wit: it Mr. J. H. Thomas as song-leader. t
