RESENTMENT IN AUCKLAND (By Telegraph—Fress Association.) AUCKLAND, June 27. Resentment at the action of the executive of the Auckland Clerical Workers' Union in affiliating with the Federation of Labour and contributing from the funds of the union to the federation, is felt by a certain section of the union. In consequence members are being urged to attend the annual meeting of the union, to be held tonight, and to vote for a new executive. "Many of us deplore the conditions by which we have been compelled to become unionists, but apathy on our part will make the position infinitely worse," states a circular which has been distributed among members. Because they consider there is a responsibility not to be shirked, five members representative of all classes of clerical workers, are offering themselves for election to the executive These candidates are advocating freedom from the influence of any political party, preservation of union funds for union purposes only, reduction in union fees, and the strictest economy in working expenses, democratic control, reference of all matters of importance to members for their decision, either in open meeting or by postal ballot, and the fullest possible cooperation with employers.
